Some popular terms are documentary or reportage wedding photography or wedding photojournalism. All these terms really mean is that I simply tell the real story of your wedding day through beautiful images.
Two questions I have heard many times, and in the days of digital photography, when everyone has a camera and is a 'photographer' I can understand the temptation to say yes - it will save you money. But you need to know you can trust your photographer to not miss the moment on such a special occasion.
A wedding day is a big expense I know, so below I have highlighted some of the many benefits of hiring a professional photographer - even if it is not me. You are not just paying for someone to take photographs on the day, you get so much more besides.
Here are just some of the benefits I can offer:
I hope I can offer what you are looking for and that you will choose me. If not please remember to look for someone who's style you like, and also someone you can relax with, and are happy to share your day with. A good wedding photographer will capture your wedding day beautifully and let you relax in the knowledge that they will not let you down, producing images that you will be able to enjoy forever.
Yes! I’d love to meet up and I always recommend it if possible. You can tell me all about your exciting plans, ask me any questions you may have and see more of my work if you would like to.
I am based in Tunbridge Wells, and if for whatever reason meeting up is not possible then we can always come up with another plan. I am always available to answer questions over the phone or email and I have shot many weddings without meeting the couple until the big day without problems.
I will always call you one week before your wedding day just to run through the details and make sure nothing has changed.
If you would like to meet up please get in touch and we can arrange a convenient time. Weekdays or evenings are best but some weekends are available.
Yes, I love to travel and it is a rare treat to photograph a wedding that is actually on my doorstep. I am based in Tunbridge Wells but I’ve found myself down in Devon, up in Yorkshire and many places in between. I will even jump on a plane if you ask me to, and I’ve already photographed weddings in Sweden and Italy.
They are up to a point. For long distance weddings over a 60 mile radius from Tunbridge Wells an additional charge for petrol may be needed and in some circumstances accommodation the night before and the night of the wedding is required. I will advise you if this applies to you at enquiry stage.
am more than happy to photograph International weddings. Please complete a wedding enquiry and I will be happy to provide you with a quote.
If it is local then yes and if possible we can sometimes even have our catch up at the venue. For longer distance weddings it is not always possible to visit, but this is not a problem. I will research your venue and speak with your wedding contact. On the day I will familiarize myself with the surroundings.
Yes. It is your wedding day and I will do whatever you wish, although I suggest these are limited. I always try and take group shots as quickly as possible to minimize disruption of your day, and will more than likely enlist the help of your bridesmaids and ushers to keep it speedy. We can include a group shot of all the guests if light and space allow.
A combination of both colour and black and white images will be used to document your wedding. Some images lend themselves more naturally to black and white and can avoid issues with artificial light. Black and white images can also be a lot more timeless and flattering but they will always be balanced with a selection of coloured images, to give a true flavour of your wedding day. The balance of colour to black and white images will vary per wedding and is at my discretion.
Most definitely. I carry full up-to-date professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I always have worked alone. It enables me to be completely discreet and blend in with your day, which is how I take the photos that I do. Many of the letters I have received over the years bear testament to this and it is something I am very proud off.
I know many others offer two photographers but this does not always mean you will get more - or even better pictures. Working alone allows complete consistency in the style of your photographs and it allows me the piece of mind that I have photographed everything that I should - rather than hoping the other guy got the shot.
I also personally edit and adjust your images after your wedding day and do not pass them to a third party.
This is entirely up to you. Some warm food is always appreciated but I know how expensive these things are and I always have a sandwich with me to keep me going.
This is not something that I include, although I know many photographers sell this in as a great way to get used to the camera and being photographed. Personally I find these posed situations so far removed from what it will be like on your wedding day that it is actually of little benefit to yourselves, and once you see your wedding photographs, these are the only ones you will want.
If however this is something you would like as a way of documenting your life before your wedding day, I would be more than happy to discuss spending some time with you. Prices start at £400 for 4 hours. Please feel free to contact me to arrange this.
I always aim to have your photographs with you within approximately five weeks of your wedding day. This can differ at peak times of the year but I will keep you updated on progress and send you a confirmation email when they are dispatched, so you know they are on the way.
As the photographer of your images I own the copyright and it is legally impossible for me to ‘give’ that copyright away. I can however grant you permission to use the images for unlimited personal use.
This means you, your friends and family can print out the pictures as a set of prints, in an album, or share them on Facebook. The only thing you cannot do is use them for any kind of advertising, or enter them in competitions.
Firstly you will need to check my availability to on your chosen date. I would then require you to complete and return a booking form (this will be emailed to you) along with a non-refundable retainer fee of £250. This will secure your date. I cannot ‘hold’ dates without a completed booking form and retainer fee and I have a first-come, first-served policy. The retainer fee will be deducted from the final balance, which is due 28 days before your wedding day.
I am far better with faces and it just helps me identify you before your wedding day. These photos will never be made public and will only be used for my records.
You are under no obligation to me to purchase anything above and beyond your wedding package. You will have your disc of images which belong to you, so you may wish to do this yourself. The Albums and Books I offer are gorgeous though and benefit from being professionally designed. If you would like me to produce one for you, I would of course be delighted too. You can see full album descriptions and some images here.
If your question has not been answered here, please do get in touch and I will be happy to help.
